About The Lyons Farmette Wedding Venue

Lyons Farmette sits on 4 beautiful acres of farmland and gardens about 17 miles outside of Boulder. The farm was started in 2010 by Colorado residents Betsy and Mike, who combined their passion for animals, art, locally grown food, and sustainability into one beautiful project. Today, the Farmette is a working organic farm and education center “with a mission to support and empower our local community” through opportunities and gatherings like workshops and farm dinners.

The Lyons Farmette wedding venue is also home to a variety of friendly farm animals, including chickens, goats, llamas, and alpacas. Part of their property is dedicated to gorgeous flower gardens, where they grow colorful florals for wedding bouquets, centerpieces, and decor. Their commitment to farming has created a beautiful environment for quiet gatherings and celebrations, including romantic, intimate weddings. 

Their sister property, The River Bend, is another (nearby) option for a beautiful outdoor wedding, too! 

Details of the Grounds

Lyons Farmette is a beautiful outdoor wedding venue that can accommodate up to 125 guests. Their property has tons of flexible space that can be used for your celebration and gives guests ample opportunities to wander, explore, and play throughout your event. 

The Farmhouse is a great space for you and your party to prepare for the day. It’s a bright, open space with rustic touches and two bedrooms and bathrooms for extra room. When it’s time to take getting-ready photos, however, we can head down to the adorable airstream dressing suite for gorgeous, vintage-inspired photos. It’s a smaller space that can be ideal for getting ready with 2-3 others, but if you have a larger party, the Farmhouse is the way to go. 

The main ceremony site is located beneath a huge, beautiful tree with an enormous trunk and shady branches hanging overhead. It’s a dreamy garden setting, especially when the afternoon light shines through the leaves. Your guests will be seated on lush green grass, surrounded by greenery and mature trees decorated with hanging market lights for an added touch of romance. It’s an incredible setting that feels as comfortable as a backyard and as special as a fairy tale. 

A Lyons Farmette Wedding Cocktail Hour And Beyond

During cocktail hour, your guests are invited to partake in lawn games and spread out to enjoy the property. They can even pop over and say hello to the farm animals! Additionally, you can bring in beautiful furniture rentals to create designated seating spaces that are elegant and inviting. 

Your reception can be held in a number of spaces, but many couples choose to host a farm-to-table dinner on one of the open lawns. Picture beautiful farm tables lined in linens and greenery, adorned with estate-grown wildflowers and romantic candles. Overhead, strings of lighting brighten the space as the sun begins to set. At dusk, fire pits come to life with cozy flames, perfect for s’mores and gathering around the fire with some amazing company. 

Lyons Farmette also has a large barn on site, designed for hosting events. It’s a bright, beautiful space with white walls and wooden accents that is ideal for hosting indoor ceremonies and receptions. You can transform the space with your signature decor and colors, and guests will love the convenience of the indoor restrooms. Just keep in mind that, while indoors, they do not have air-conditioning. The only air conditioning on site cools the Farmhouse, where you’ll get ready for the day.  

Photography Opportunities

Lyons Farmette is a wonderfully photogenic venue with plenty of options for playing with stunning wedding photo settings. The flower fields are a MUST – rows of vibrant pops of color set against a backdrop of mature trees are absolutely heavenly. It’s the perfect garden vibe with all the boho romance of a small mountain farm. At the end of the garden is a beautiful greenhouse that is also fun to play with, with bright filtered light and even more colorful flowers inside. 

The property is home to several paths and trails that are gorgeous settings for romantic portraits. As the sun begins to set and the entire farm lights with a golden glow, true magic begins to happen. We’ll make sure to take as many Golden Hour photos as possible for your wedding; you won’t want to miss a second of the incredible lighting. 

And, of course, you’ll want to take some photos that incorporate all of the friendly farm animals at The Farmette! Whether it’s getting up close and personal or posing with an alpaca in the distance, the rustic charm of the animals is such a fun and unique element of the venue. 

Wedding Details

Lyons Farmette has made throwing a stunning event on their property as simple and streamlined as possible. To start, when you rent their venue, you’ll have exclusive access to all facilities from 12 pm to 11 pm. Tables and chairs for up to 125 people (the maximum occupancy) are all included, as well as extra tables for guest books, DJs, etc. 

While they don’t currently offer in-house coordinating, they work closely with Dahlia Events and Designs, a company with extensive experience throwing weddings at Lyons Farmette. You will, however, have a venue manager at your event who remains on site to make sure any venue-related issues come together correctly, turn on the lights, maintain the bathrooms, light the bonfire, and more.   

Lyons Farmette does require you to use their preferred vendors for catering, bartending, and DJs, but don’t worry! They have 23 catering companies, 8 food trucks, and 10 DJs from which you can choose, offering plenty of culinary and entertainment options. 

Remember, too, that they grow their own flowers for you to use for your decor. Additionally, they offer special additional touches, like a vintage 1954 Chevy truck!
